Live and Study with the World's Best Students
If you come to Carolina, you’ll be supported and challenged by students who are among the very best in the world. Our undergraduate population of 18,000 students is incredibly diverse—racially, socioeconomically, and geographically. If you're interested in stepping outside your comfort zone and getting to know other students with different talents, passions, and backgrounds, you'll love Carolina. We think that that our students will push you to reach the goals you’ve set for yourself—and perhaps achieve things you haven’t even imagined.
Among all research universities Carolina ranks sixth in the number of Rhodes Scholars in the last five years, behind only Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Princeton, and University of Chicago. We are a national leader among public universities in the number of students who win such prestigious national and international scholarships as the Rhodes, Fulbright, Goldwater, Luce, Marshall, Truman, and Udall.
“Consistently being surrounded by different perspectives has made me more in tune to the nuances that color Carolina’s framework. This has tremendously enriched my personal worldview and has helped me develop a greater sense of appreciation for the opportunities I’ve been lucky to have as a Tar Heel." -- Nikita (pictured)
Nikita has studied abroad in Copenhagen and Hong Kong through the GLOBE program, a specialized international business program available through the Kenan-Flagler School of Business. As an international student, he received the Shelby Davis Scholarship, a full-merit scholarship. He was also a pioneer of the Ackland Museum Ambassadors Program, a Kenan Institute Leadership Fellow, and participated in SAIL (Students Advancing in Leadership) and AIESEC, the world’s largest youth-run organization.
