HIGH
SCHOOL ACHIEVEMENTS: Cofounded the Black
Student Alliance at her high school. "We felt that our
voice really needed to be heard in the community. I
was a member of the Executive Board, and we
organized events--speakers, academic workshops,
social events. The club is still going strong."
CAROLINA
ACTIVITIES: Member of the freshman
class committee of the Black
Student Movement
(BSM). "This fall we sponsored a cookout for the
homecoming game. Our goal is to make freshmen
feel more comfortable on campus and feel like they
have a voice in the community and in the BSM."
FAVORITE
CLASS AT CAROLINA: African American
Studies 40. "Professor [Barbara] Anderson is
wonderful. The class meets at 8 am on Tuesdays
and Thursdays and I still never miss a class!"
CAROLINA
BECAUSE: "I visited a lot of schools, but
when I came to Carolina for my visit there was a
sense ... a whole feeling ... it was just wonderful. The
students were so friendly and open and the campus
so beautiful. It's such a well rounded package. It has
great academics and a great social setting. I just knew
that I wanted to come here."
