These Carolina programs connect talented students with unique opportunities at the University.

There’s no separate application for these opportunities, just answer the associated questions on your application. If you’re selected for any of these programs, we’ll notify you in your MyCarolina account at the same time you receive your admissions decision.

    • Assured enrollment programs are available to incoming first-year students and guarantee a spot in an undergraduate major within a professional school or an accelerated undergraduate + graduate program. Students can express interest in up to three programs on their application.

      *First-year students are encouraged to apply by our October 15 Early Action deadline to be considered for programs marked with an asterisk.

       

      Biostatistics*

      Advance to the cutting edge of biostatistics. Design research studies, organize and integrate data, and collaborate on interdisciplinary teams to improve human health.

       

      Business*

      Gain admission to the highly ranked Kenan-Flagler Business School and connect with world-class faculty, high-potential classmates, and top employers.

       

      Education

      Enjoy conditional enrollment in the Pre-Master of Arts in Teaching program; admission to the minor in education; and opportunities to begin graduate-level coursework.

       

      Environmental Health Sciences*

      A deep understanding of the interplay between humanity and the environment prepares you for careers in environmental advocacy, consulting, and banking.

       

      Environmental Science and Info Science

      Earn a bachelor’s degree in environmental science and a master’s degree in information science, preparing you for careers in government, non-profits, and research.

       

      Euro-TAM Program

      Earn a bachelor’s degree in Contemporary European Studies and a TransAtlantic Masters (TAM). Be prepared for a variety of international careers from diplomacy to policy making.

       

      Health Policy and Management*

      Gain essential skills in management, policy making, and research as you prepare to improve population health through your studies in the Gillings School of Public Health.

       

      Information Science

      Develop the skills to orchestrate how people access information — from libraries to the internet — when you to pursue your School of Information and Library Science degree.

       

      Journalism and Media

      Hone your media skills in one of the best journalism programs in the nation as you master graphic design, electronic journalism or public relations.

       

      Nutrition*

      Gain a breadth of experience in scientific and policy approaches at the only nutrition department situated in both a school of public health and school of medicine.

       

      Pharmacy*

      Launch your pharmacy career with two years of undergraduate study at the Eshelman School of Pharmacy on your way to earning your PharmD, PhD, or Master of Science.

       

       

       

    • Part of Carolina’s commitment to access and affordability are our scholarships. Students are automatically considered for academic scholarships without a financial need component just by submitting their application for admission. Students are considered for scholarships with a financial need component, the majority of scholarships available at Carolina, when they complete the financial aid application by the priority deadline.

      This program promotes diversity and inclusion in arts and humanities, supporting students of all backgrounds as they solve some of the world’s great challenges.

       

      Carolina Innovation Scholars*

      This program helps launch the careers of students ready to start new ventures or investigate vital issues, providing them resources and skills to turn their ideas into reality.

       

      Chancellor’s Science Scholars*

      This program promotes diversity and inclusion in science and technology, supporting students of all backgrounds as they pursue STEM degrees and careers.

       

      Kenan Music Scholars program

      This program offers a full-tuition scholarship for students seeking to combine musical studies with coursework and access to workshops, masterclasses, and mentoring.

       

      Pogue Scholars*

      The Pogue Scholarship is awarded to students based upon extraordinary strengths in one or more areas and a commitment to diversity.

       

      sOUTHERN fUTURES fellows

      The program provides a one-time $5,000 award to fund research, internships, artistic endeavors, or service, supporting students as they reimagine the American South.

       

      tHOMAS WOLFE SCHOLARSHIP*

      This full-tuition scholarship is awarded each fall to an entering student who has demonstrated exceptionally focused literary ability and promise.

       

      Wood Family Scholars

      This program supports the leadership potential of students and is awarded based on a combination of extraordinary strength in one or more areas and financial need.

    • Carolina’s Global Guarantee creates a transformative global education for all Carolina students, with opportunities to learn from cultures and societies around the world and understand the powerful ways in which our world is interconnected. Whether through study abroad or through rich global content and experiences in Carolina’s curriculum, students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills fundamental to their success as the next generation of global leaders.

      Enjoy the opportunity to study abroad in Costa Rica, Ireland, Scotland, South Korea, or Spain during the fall semester of your first year, then enroll at Carolina in the spring.

       

      Carolina Spring Forward

      Study abroad in Ireland, Scotland, South Korea, or Spain during the spring semester of your first year at Carolina.

       

      Global Gap Year

      The Global Gap Year Fellowship provides students with $8,000 to fund a gap year that is committed to service abroad.

       

       

      Language Flagship Program

      The Russian Language Flagship Program provides a competitive edge through opportunities to develop a professional level of proficiency in Russian.

       

      Phillips Passport Initiative

      This opportunity provides funding for students to obtain their first U.S. passport. Selected students will be notified in the summer before their first semester at Carolina.

       

      Summer Study Abroad Fellowship

      Summer Study Abroad Fellowships provide a one-time award of $5,000 to fund study abroad experiences for students after their first, second, or third year of study at Carolina.
