A Typical Day in My Life at Carolina
A typical day in my life at UNC is fairly busy. If you think you had a lot to do in high school just wait until you get to college. Don’t get me wrong, attending college is one of the smartest actions you can ever take, but it’s not always fun and games. For instance, on Thursdays I would have class from 9:30 a.m. - 10:45, then another class from 11:00 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Right after my morning classes I speed-walk (but the bus is always offered) to get lunch, eat with friends, and change clothes to volunteer at UNC-Hospitals from 2 p.m.- 4 p.m. Upon returning to my room, I relax for a while, only to go to concert band practice from 6:00 p.m.- 7:30 p.m. As soon as band is over, I eat dinner with my friends, finally reaching my room around 8:30 p.m. I take a few minutes to relax, maybe watch a television show while checking my email, and then I prepare myself to do homework for my classes. The time needed for coursework at UNC varies. Sometimes I may have very little to do, other times I may have a large amount of work. Assignments at Carolina can range anywhere from readings, to projects, to papers, to group activities, etc. Everyday of the week is not this busy, but 3 out of the 5 school days per week are this busy if not more. Personally, my advice to you when coming to UNC is to balance your coursework with your extracurricular activities. Know yourself and what you can handle. Remember you are here for various reasons, to get an education and to have a memorable experience, meet life-long friends, etc. However, in order for all of these attributes to be accomplished, it is imperative that you schedule your time wisely.
