Unique qualities of Carolina
"What is it that binds us to this place as to no other? It is not
the well or the bell, or the stone walls, or the crisp October nights, or
the memory of dogwoods blooming...”*
I get goose bumps every time I hear this. There are so many things that make
this place, Carolina , the place that I love. To me, the things that make Carolina
so unique are the little things: the look of campus on early mornings when
the dew is still fresh on the ground and the sun is still rising, the feel
of campus right before a big game when everyone proudly wears their best Carolina
blue and pride in their heart, and the sledding parties down by the Dean Smith
Center when we get our first frost of the year.
I love springtime at Carolina, a time when the azaleas are in full bloom,
flip flops, skirts, and shades instantly appear, and everyone hangs out on
the wall and the yard just a little bit longer.
The sound of the Bell Tower
as I walk to class, the way we can all smile at knowing that we are a part
of a very special place, and the way that no matter how big, Carolina always
seems to feel just like home. These are the things that make Carolina
unique.
“No, the love for this place stems from the fact that it is, as
it was meant to be, the University of the People."*
