Tar Heel Victory
"Out of a sea of talent, a TEAM was made" -Chancellor

As I watched Sean May hold that ball as the last seconds of the game ticked
away, I had this feeling of disbelief. I couldn’t believe that we were
the NCAA champions. Before then, this whole march madness / college basketball
thing made no sense to me. For weeks, I would challenge my friends about the
importance of the Final Four and complain about having better things to do
than watch UNC play yet another basketball game. When people predicted that
we would go all the way, I would usually disregard it, because it didn’t
matter to me.
But on that fateful night of April 4th, things became very
clear for me. UNC, the very same school that I attended, was #1. We were
the best, and everyone knew it. I was ecstatic. The feeling was surreal. I
rushed to Franklin St., along with 45,000 other fans, and just partied the
night away. It didn’t matter that I had a 9:30 class in the morning,
was covered in blue paint, and could have quite possibly been trampled, burnt,
or just plain hurt. All that mattered was celebrating this once in a lifetime
event with what seemed like a million other Tar Heels. I think we will
all remember that night for the rest of our lives.
