I grew up in Charlotte, N.C., which was full of Tar Heel fans, and well…I wasn’t. I never understood what all the fuss was about. I always thought people went overboard with their Carolina blue gear and overly-thrilled attitude towards basketball.

By the time I was a senior in High School, I was ready to leave all these Tar Heel fans and go to college as far away as possible. After force from my parents, I applied to Carolina and eventually visited. I visited Chapel Hill with a negative attitude towards the University, but after I toured the campus something struck me about the atmosphere and the people and, basically, I fell in love!

Now it puts a huge smile on my face when I am walking through campus on a sunny day in a sea full of Carolina blue or when I’m at a basketball game watching all the fans jumping up and down with blue painted faces.

As a result of my experiences, I want to assist you in your decision in considering Carolina. I want to help you figure out if Carolina is right for you and offer you information about the University and its students. My biggest advice for you is to educate yourself about the University, listen to what students, like me, say about the University, and more importantly ask questions if you have them!

A bit of information about myself: I am a member of a service fraternity called Alpha Phi Omega and have held multiple positions. Also, I am involved with Dance Marathon, a member of Alpha Chi Omega, and a UNC tour guide.

When I am not studying or doing extracurricular activities, I enjoy hanging out with my friends, hiking, running on trails throughout Chapel Hill, going to Yogurt Pump, going to the movies, shopping, and watching Sex and the City re-runs with my awesome roommates!

Some of the best places in Chapel Hill according to me:

Best ice cream place: Yogurt Pump

Best place to study: Caribou Coffee

Best Franklin St. hangout: He’s Not Here

Best Franklin St. restaurant: 411

Best Franklin St. “fast food”: Cosmic Cantina

Best place to get Carolina gear: Student Stores
