What I did this summer
Okay, so maybe summer school wasn’t anything to brag about in high
school; however, here at UNC-Chapel Hill summer school is a great idea for
anyone who wants to get ahead, catch up, or just be in the best place in the
world for the summer – Chapel Thrill. Yes, this summer I attended the
first session of summer school and took one class – Math of course and
worked as a camp counselor for the Project Uplift program through the Office
of Minority Affairs and Minority Student Recruitment Committee organizations
that I am a part of. It was a great experience and I plan on doing it again
next summer as well.
For the second part of my summer I continued as a camp counselor for the
UNCG All Arts and Science Camp. The fun and exciting part of this camp had
to be the fact that we traveled all over NC and VA. We went to six different
college campuses and ran week long academic and social camps for students aged
7-15. At times, the camp was rather trying – yes, 13 year olds can be
EVIL at times, but, I made it through. After all, I want to be around children
for the rest of my life – it’s all apart of teaching.
That’s my summer in a nut shell. Not too exciting… but, hey – it
was fun and I met some very neat and interesting individuals. A definite do
over! One week at home and two weeks of Resident Advisor (RA) training sent
me back to my Carolina Blue Home away from home! Glad to be back and loving
every minute of my Sophomore year so far! Woop woop for the Class of 2007!
We’re back and in full effect… So, how was your summer?
