What I like most and least about Carolina
What I like most about Carolina is that there are so many opportunities to
take advantage of. There are fifteen thousand undergraduate students here,
and although I think it would be impossible to know each and everyone, just
having that possibility out there is amazing.
On the social scene, there are so many options. Some people choose to have
nights in with close friends, others go out (some more than they probably
should) to clubs and bars and enjoy the nightlife. Others prefer to explore
the area, venturing out to neighboring towns.
Carolina offers so many classes. I think you could take five classes each
semester for one hundred years, and you still probably wouldn’t have
taken all the classes the University has to offer.
After you graduate from Carolina and leave Chapel Hill, although we all wish
we could stay, you have so many opportunities, whether they involve jobs,
more education, or a complete adventure! Here at Carolina there are so many
doors open for you to explore. Come through the first door and come visit!
What I like least about Carolina, other than that I have to leave in about
two years, is that we are all so reliant on technology. On the rare occasion
that the internet doesn’t work, a visitor might think we were all completely
insane, as everyone seems so disconnected from everything. Because of technology
malfunctions, I have had a professor or two cancel class. Although I’m
not complaining, in my opinion it’s kind of sad that so much importance
is placed on email and iPods that when we are forced to go without while the
server is fixed or replacement iPods are shipped, we can be cranky without
seeming ungrateful. I mean, we are in Chapel Hill, affectionately called “The
Southern Part of Heaven.”
